Willowcreek Middle School

Alpine School District

Lehi, Utah

The Willowcreek Middle School design is focused on curriculum and enhancing the teaching of all subjects effectively and collaboratively.  Central to the design is the ability for team teaching and multi-age learning, through educational neighborhoods and houses. This school within a school concept neatly distributes the 1500 to 1800 student population into smaller, more intimate learning families.  The uniquely-colored academic houses are based on themes like Wonder, Wisdom, Whimsical, World, Whole and Willpower and contain collaborative centers surrounded by classrooms.  The collaborative spaces enable teachers to team teach interdisciplinary subjects. The curriculum-based design provides expanded opportunities for learning in multiple settings and seeks to inspire students to develop strengths and gain new skills.  Plus, each house includes a centralized teacher preparation space.
