Medical Planner

VCBO Architecture, LLC is seeking an experienced Medical Planner to join our Healthcare Group in our Salt Lake City office. VCBO has a passion for excellence and a strong group of people who respect each other and enjoy working together.


Essential Functions

  1. Demonstrate experience in leading the strategy, analysis, programming and planning efforts for healthcare projects and will work with the project team in the development of those projects.
  2. Contribute to the development of the healthcare business through meeting, speaking, writing and contributing to the preparation of proposals and participating in interviews.
  3. Bring forward proven client leadership skills on healthcare projects of all sizes and scopes.
  4. Work with clients in determining project goals and objectives to optimize healthcare delivery systems through a clear project definition and programming process.
  5. Successfully lead discussions with medical and design professionals.
  6. Lead and guide the conceptual and schematic design of projects in collaboration with Partners nd be responsible for all functional aspects of the proposed solutions.
  7. Mentor and coordinate the planning work of junior medical planners.
  8. Assist in the strategic direction of the healthcare team.

Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the "core" work hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status.


Required Education and Experience

Master's of Architecture required. 12+ years of experience with strategic, functional, operational and medical planning on healthcare projects for multi-specialty clinics to large-scale hospitals. Utah Architectural license or ability to obtain a Utah license. LEED and EDAC certifications preferred. An understanding of the trends and challenges facing the healthcare industry and how those trends will affect clinic and hospital operations planning and design, including green design, patient safety and evidence-based design principles. Published white papers, prepared and presented content at major conferences is preferred. The ability to maintain a lead role in client relationships, planning and leadership. Demonstrated effectiveness working in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative team setting with a history of client satisfaction. Excellent communication skills (writing, speaking, presenting) along with excellent interpersonal skills.
