Mountain Green Elementary School

Morgan School District

Morgan, Utah

The Mountain Green Elementary School design organizes classrooms into intimate student communities, or "small learning communities".  Collaboration centers support project-based curriculum by accommodating multiple, flexible group activities. This promotes collaborative learning and helps students to integrate knowledge on a variety of levels.

Visitors are greeted by a media center and administrative offices with large expanses of glass that bracket the front entrance.  The multi-purpose room is sized to accommodate a full basketball court for community use, while still serving as dining room, supported by a full service kitchen.

Sustainable design features of the school include solar orientation, multi-level lighting, trestle wood building material, and a geothermal mechanical system.  The school is being constructed within a challenging time line to aid the School District in achieving their budgetary goals.
