Distance Education Building – Regional Campuses

Utah State University

Logan, Utah

With a dash-dot-dash . . . . this technology- rich headquarters building for the Regional Campuses Distance Education department on Utah State University’s Logan campus, communicated with passers-by via the world’s first ‘over the wire’ communication – Morse Code.

An internally lit glass graphic incised into the building illuminates visitors as to the regional campuses and their mission throughout the State.

The building is situated to reinforce a major student thoroughfare where the building engages the pathway and protects students with its outstretched overhang.  The building’s orientation allows incomparable views to the East up Logan canyon for the administrative offices within.

The facility includes varying types of instructional spaces including several experimental classrooms that utilize cutting-edge technology in a completely flexible environment.  The RCDE facility is a blank canvas on which Utah State is inventing efficient, new and exciting ways to deliver higher education.
