Architect II

VCBO Architecture, LLC is seeking an experienced Architect II to join our Architectural Group. VCBO has a passion for excellence and a strong group of people who respect each other and enjoy working together.


Essential Functions

  1. Work on a variety of projects, including programming, conceptual design, schematic design and design development.
  2. Prepare drawings for schematic design and design development.
  3. Prepare preliminary design studies and adaptations of alternatives for review, contract documents including details, sections, elevations and schedules.
  4. Produce amendments, addenda and bulletins.
  5. Self-checks work for accuracy, omissions and legibility.
  6. Exercises creative judgment and design application skills in preparing client presentation materials, including design sketches, renderings, models and graphics.
  7. Assists in preparing adaptations and technical alternatives for project team review.
  8. Knowledge of architectural detailing and current construction standards along with building systems.



Basic computer and internet skills

Revit, SketchUp and Rhino

Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Knowledge and / or understanding of project management software


Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the "core" work hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status.


Required Education and Experience

Master's of Architecture required. 4-7 years experience in Architecture. Licensed Architect and LEED AP desired, but not required. Strong knowledge of Autodesk Revit Architecture and SketchUp. Experience managing others along with excellent verbal and communication skills, self-motivated, flexible to focus on a single client with a variety of project types or multiple projects in various stages of development. Experience in compiling data, performing elementary design computations, performs area calculations according specified standards. Knowledge of building codes. Able to successfully complete the permitting process with aid and supervision of a Team Leader. Knowledge of addenda and construction change directive procedures. The ability to review and respond to submittal and RFI documentation with sufficient knowledge and understanding of the project and industry.
